About
My journey of becoming a psychotherapist began in my youth where I have always had a deep interest in the experience of human relationships and connection, psychological growth, and the process of change. For as long as I can remember, I have been fascinated by learning about the psychological patterns that exist in families and groups, the effect these patterns have on mental health, the collective unconscious, and the experience of the inner child that lives in each and every one of us. An extrovert and intuitive by nature, my clinical career as a psychotherapist formally took hold in my early 20's when I entered my graduate studies and realized working as a psychotherapist felt like my obvious "calling." I quickly realized how satisfied I was helping people while also solving mental and emotional "puzzles" every day in my clinical practice. I feel incredibly fortunate to have found a career I am dedicated to that continues to inspire and fulfill me: In my opinion, helping individuals and couples develop more satisfying lives and richer relationships, and uncover more meaning for themselves could not be more important work in this era of modernity.
I attended The University of California where I graduated with my BA in Cultural Anthropology with Honors. I completed my graduate studies receiving my MSW at New York University in Clinical Social Work, also graduating with Honors, where I had the wonderful opportunity to study under some of the best clinicians in the field. My training includes psychodynamic psychotherapy with children, adolescents, adults and couples, group psychotherapy, psychoanalytic supervision, depth psychology, and relational psychotherapy. I am also trained in CBT/DBT, the treatment of addiction and intimate partner conflict. My continued education in this field also includes Internal Family Systems (IFS), the neurobiology of attachment and the very important intersection of diagnostics and treatment. I obtained my certificate in Clinical Supervision from the esteemed Columbia University and enjoy supervising clinicians both in early and advanced stages of their career.
Alongside my private practice, I have also taught in the Masters Program at New York University, lecturing on attachment theory and human development and have also co-taught at the William Alanson White Institute in the Intensive Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Program. I have a breadth of experience working with adolescents and parents in New York City, treatment teams of Neuropsychologists, Psychiatrists, in-patient psychiatric teams, and University Counseling faculty. Earlier in my career, I was a part of the group practice, Soho Parenting Center, "New York's first and finest parenting and psychotherapy center," where I treated children and parents, conducted couples therapy and also administered developmental evaluations of children and adolescents and collaborated with teams of pediatricians and other clinicians.
I have also written and presented many professional papers at national psychoanalytic conferences focused on the underpinnings of successful interpersonal psychoanalytic treatment. My expertise has been included in articles for NBC’s “Know Your Value” and New York Magazine, and my writing has been published in several psychoanalytic anthologies, one being nominated for a Gravida Award.
A long time Brooklyn resident, and mother of two, I enjoy my time in the city, and also in the Lower Hudson Valley.
